Another creative way to use tagging is for trend identification. Below is some commentary from our co-founder Jake on how he uses tagging for trend identification in his process:
As I go through a report, conf call, and other materials, I’ll add either #greenflag or #redflag to append a quick personal evaluation to a sentence or paragraph.
As I get to know a company better and learn more, I find it very useful to skim back through all the entries for that Idea and look for red or green to give me a broad sense of sentiment. Magnitude of good or bad is obviously ignored, but it’s often difficult assess the impact of a new data point in the moment. Allowing a little time to pass can help put things into context.
We humans have evolved to be sensitive to colors (they usually meant food), so I want to harness that default internal wiring for my own progress.
